Nantucket is one of our favorite places to visit in the summertime. We could just drive around looking at all the quaint cottages and historical architecture for hours (and sometimes we do). What started as a fishing and whaling community, has now blossomed into a world renown travel destination. Though the times of change are barely felt thanks to the hard work of the conservation and preservation societies that keep Nantucket the historical gem that it is. As traditionalists at heart, we appreciate all that the island has done to keep its authenticity.

On this last trip, we stumbled upon the loveliest little store tucked inside a shingled home, The Weaving Room. It’s owner, Anna, was kind enough to give us a tour of her workshop downstairs where she hand weaves all the rugs, tapestries and fabrics. She imports all the wool from Sweden (Anna’s homeland) and still uses many techniques and designs based on Swedish tradition. The finish pieces are almost too pretty to walk on!
